Immunoprecipitation:RASAL1 AntibodyNBP3-29136] -Detection of human RASAL1 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from RPMI-8226 cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-RASAL1 antibody (NBP3-29136 lot 1) used for IP at 1 µg per reaction. RASAL1 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-RASAL1 antibody BL24199. For blotting immunoprecipitated RASAL1, NBP3-29136 was used at 0.04 mg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

Background: RASAL1

RASAL1 is encoded by this gene is member of the GAP1 family of GTPase-activating proteins. These proteins stimulate the GTPase activity of normal RAS p21 but not its oncogenic counterpart. Acting as a suppressor of RAS function, the protein enhances the weak intrinsic GTPase activity of RAS proteins resulting in the inactive GDP-bound form of RAS, thereby allowing control of cellular proliferation and differentiation. This particular family member contains domains which are characteristic of the GAP1 subfamily of RasGAP proteins but, in contrast to the other GAP1 family members, this protein is strongly and selectively expressed in endocrine tissues.
