Carrier Free
CF stands for Carrier Free (CF). We typically add Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as a carrier protein to our recombinant proteins. Adding a carrier protein enhances protein stability, increases shelf-life, and allows the recombinant protein to be stored at a more dilute concentration. The carrier free version does not contain BSA.
In general, we advise purchasing the recombinant protein with BSA for use in cell or tissue culture, or as an ELISA standard. In contrast, the carrier free protein is recommended for applications, in which the presence of BSA could interfere.

Background: Latrophilin 3/LPHN3
Latrophilin-3 (LPHN3) is a 7-transmembrane protein in the family of adhesion GPCRs with large N-terminal extracellular regions (1, 2). The 847 amino acid (aa)
N-terminal region of human Latrophilin-3 contains a SUEL-like lectin domain, an Olfactomedin-like domain, an O-glycosylated mucin-like region, a hormone receptor domain, and a GPCR proteolysis site (GPS). Within this approximately 120 kDa region, human Latrophilin-3 shares 96% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat Latrophilin-3. Alternative splicing of human Latrophilin-3 generates additional isoforms with a 13 aa insertion or premature truncation in the N-terminal ECD (3). Latrophilin-3 is expressed in the brain cortex (3). It binds to FLRT1, 2, and 3 and Tenurin 1 (4, 5). Its binding in trans to post-synaptic FLRT3 at glutamatergic synapses supports the maintenance of excitatory synapses as well as the amplitude of glutamatergic transmission (4, 5). Polymorphisms of Latrophilin-3 are associated with susceptibility to attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (3, 6). Latrophilin-3 is also expressed in fetal adrenal glands and is down-regulated in the adult (7).
