Simple Plex Control for Human Cystatin C Summary

INTENDED USE AND DESCRIPTION: For use a quantitative control for the determination of human Cystatin C concentrations in biological fluids. Controls are supplied lyophilized. Please refer to the lot specific certificate of analysis and Simple Plex Lyophilized Quality Control product insert for additional information.

Storage
• Store lyophilized controls at 2-8 °C. Lyophilized controls are stable for up to 12 months from date of receipt.
• Reconstituted controls are stable for up to 6 months from date of preparation when stored at ≤ -70 °C. Storage at -20° C is not recommended.
• Individual frozen aliquots of low and high controls are designed as single-use entities. Thaw directly before use and discard any remaining volume.

Background: Cystatin C

Cystatin C is a secreted cysteine protease inhibitor that inhibits Cathepsins B, H, K, L, and S. Cystatin C serum concentration correlates closely to the glomerular filtration rate (GFR); elevated levels are associated with coronary artery and cardiovascular disease risk. Dysregulation of Cystatin C can modulate tumor growth and metastasis. In humans, the L68Q variant forms dimers and oligomers more easily than wild type protein and is the cause for hereditary Cystatin C amyloid angiopathy.
