Background: SLC4A9

SLC4A9, also referred to as Solute Carrier Family 4, Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter, Member 9, has a 983 amino acid long isoform that is approximately 108kDa (the canonical sequence) and three other isoforms produced by alternative splicing. SLC4A9 is a transmembrane protein that is predominately expressed in the kidney where it functions in anion exchange. Current research on SLC4A9 is being performed in relation to several diseases and disorders including neuronitis and hidradenoma. SLC4A9 is involved in several pathways such as the SLC-mediated transmembrane transport pathway and the Bicarbonate transporters pathway.
