Immunoprecipitation: TFIIB Antibody [NBP1-49982] - Detection of Human GTF2B/ TFIIB by Western Blot of Immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) from Jurkat cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti- GTF2B/ TFIIB antibody used for IP at 3 mcg/mg lysate. GTF2B/ TFIIB was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-TFIIB antibody which recognizes an upstream epitope. For blotting immunoprecipitated GTF2B/ TFIIB was used at 1 mcg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 3 seconds.

Background: TFIIB

This gene encodes the general transcription factor IIB, one of the ubiquitous factors required for transcription initiation by RNA polymerase II. The protein localizes to the nucleus where it forms a complex (the DAB complex) with transcription factors IID and IIA. Transcription factor IIB serves as a bridge between IID, the factor which initially recognizes the promoter sequence, and RNA polymerase II.
