Immunoprecipitation:VPS18 AntibodyNBP3-30039] -Detection of human VPS18 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (0.5 or 1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from 293T cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-VPS18 antibody NBP3-30039 (lot NBP3-30039-1) used for IP at 6 µg per reaction. VPS18 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-VPS18.. For blotting immunoprecipitated VPS18, NBP3-30039 was used at 1 µg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 3 minutes.

Background: VPS18

Vesicle mediated protein sorting plays an important role in segregation of intracellular molecules into distinct organelles. Genetic studies in yeast have identified more than 40 vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) genes involved in vesicle transport to vacuoles. This gene encodes the human homolog of yeast class C Vps18 protein. The mammalian class C Vps proteins are predominantly associated with late endosomes/lysosomes, and like their yeast counterparts, may mediate vesicle trafficking steps in the endosome/lysosome pathway.
