Leukotriene A4 Hydrolase/LTA4H Inhibitors

Leukotriene A₄ hydrolase, (LTA₄ hydrolase, LTA₄H) is a zinc-dependent epoxide hydrolase which hydrolyzes LTA₄ to form LTB₄ during leukotriene biosynthesis. The enzyme is the only member of the leukotriene biosynthetic pathway which is mainly cytoplasmic.

LTA₄ hydrolase is expressed in monocytes, lymphocytes, neutrophils, fibroblasts and platelets. In addition to its actions during LTB₄ synthesis, LTA₄ hydrolase also possesses aminopeptidase activity and is known to degrade the neutrophil chemoattractant, PGP (proline-glycine-proline). This activity has been linked to the resolution of acute, neutrophil-driven inflammation.
