Leukotriene A4 Hydrolase/LTA4H Inhibitors
Leukotriene A4 hydrolase, (LTA4 hydrolase, LTA4H) is a zinc-dependent epoxide hydrolase which hydrolyzes LTA4 to form LTB4 during leukotriene biosynthesis. The enzyme is the only member of the leukotriene biosynthetic pathway which is mainly cytoplasmic.
LTA4 hydrolase is expressed in monocytes, lymphocytes, neutrophils, fibroblasts and platelets. In addition to its actions during LTB4 synthesis, LTA4 hydrolase also possesses aminopeptidase activity and is known to degrade the neutrophil chemoattractant, PGP (proline-glycine-proline). This activity has been linked to the resolution of acute, neutrophil-driven inflammation.
