MauriceFlex System

Automated icIEF, CE‑SDS, and Charge Variant Fractionation

Automated icIEF, icIEF Fractionation, and CE-SDS on One System

MauriceFlex™ system is an automated capillary electrophoresis system that combines icIEF, icIEF‑based fractionation, and CE‑SDS on a single platform. In addition to routine charge and size analysis, MauriceFlex enables collection of charge variants for in-depth characterization using a variety of downstream methods, such as intact mass spectrometry, reduced-MS, peptide mapping, binding analysis with SPR, aggregate analysis with mass photometry and other orthogonal analytical techniques.

How can MauriceFlex System Help you?

Simplify Charge Variant Analysis

  • icIEF fractionation enables separation and collection of charge variants on the same system, eliminating the need for methods like ion-exchange chromatography (IEX)
  • Fractions are collected in ammonium acetate and do not contain urea, and can thus be analyzed with mass spectrometry without additional sample preparation
  •  The collected fractions can be characterized by various analytical instruments without needing buffer exchange

Biomolecular and Protein Fractionation on MauriceFlex

Get a deeper characterization of charge variants with fractionation

  1. An applied electric field creates a pH gradient across the capillary inside the MauriceFlex cartridge
  2. Proteins separate by migrating to different pH values on the gradient, based on their individual isoelectric point (pI)
  3. Introduction of ammonium acetate chargers the pH gradient, mobilizing these separated proteins, and results in elution (fractionation)
