Background: CD151

CD151 is a 29 kDa palmitoylated glycoprotein in the tetraspanin superfamily and is expressed by endothelial cells, epithelial cells, megakaryocytes, and platelets. It associates with other tetraspanin proteins and with some integrins including alpha 3/ beta 1, alpha 6/ beta 1, alpha 6/ beta 4, and alpha 7/ beta 1. CD151 modulates cellular adhesion, cell migration, and platelet activation. Mouse CD151 shares 94% - 96% aa sequence identity with human and rat CD151.
