Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR gamma) is a lipid-activated nuclear hormone receptor with roles in adipocyte differentiation, lipid and glucose metabolism, and modulation of immune and inflammatory reactions. PPAR gamma is the receptor for insulin-sensitizing thiazolidinediones, commonly used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
