Background: CDKAL1

CDKAL1 is a gene that codes for a protein with three isoforms, with lengths of 579, 488, and 97 amino acids and weights of approximately 65, 55, and 11 kDa respectively. Current studies are being done on several diseases and disorders linked to this gene including polycystic ovary syndrome, spondylitis, arterial calcification, inflammatory bowel disease, gestational diabetes, ulcerative colitis, insulin resistance, Crohn's disease, psoriasis, prostate cancer, atherosclerosis, obesity, prostatitis, pancreatitis, and malaria. CDKAL1 has also been shown to have interactions with GINS4, ATG2A, UBC, and ELAVL1.
