Background: EGR2

ERG2 is a sequence-specific transcription factor, that binds to two specific DNA sites located in the promoter region of HOXA4. Defects in EGR2 are a cause of congenital hypomyelination neuropathy (CHN), which can be inherited in either an autosomal dominant or recessive manner. Recessive CHN can present as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4E, type 1D, or Dejerine-Sottas syndrome (DSS), a group of neuropathies associated with decreased nerve conduction velocities.
