Background: Endothelin-2

Consisting of vasoconstrictive peptides, Endothelin 2, or END2 is a member of the endothelin/sarafotoxin family. Widely expressed in all tissues, Endothelin 2 initiates many intracellular signaling events and is involved in the maintenance of vascular tone. This gene is also involved in a variety of biological processes, with the two most common being hypertension and ovulation.
