Members of the pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase family are involved in bone mineralization, purinergic receptor signaling, and cell motility. ENPP5 plays a role in neuronal cell communication and, unlike its other family members, lacks nucleotide pyrophosphatase and lysopholipase D activity.
