Immunoprecipitation:Gamma Adaptin AntibodyNBP3-30665] -Detection of human gamma Adaptin/AP1G1 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (0.5 or 1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-gamma Adaptin/AP1G1 antibody NBP3-30665 (lot NBP3-30665-1) used for IP at 6 µg per reaction. gamma Adaptin/AP1G1 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-gamma Adaptin/AP1G1 antibody. For blotting immunoprecipitated gamma Adaptin/AP1G1, NBP3-30665 was used at 0.4 µg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 10 seconds.

Background: Gamma Adaptin

Adaptins are important components of clathrin-coated vesicles transporting ligand-receptor complexes from the plasma membrane or from the trans-Golgi network to lysosomes. The adaptin family of proteins is composed of four classes of molecules named alpha, beta, beta prime and gamma adaptins. Adaptins, together with medium and small subunits, form a heterotetrameric complex called an adaptor, whose role is to promote the formation of clathrin-coated pits and vesicles. The protein encoded by this gene is a gamma-adaptin protein and it belongs to the adaptor complexes large subunits family.
