Background: HSPA2
Heat shock protein A2 (HSPA2), also known as HSP70.2, is a 70 kDa testis specific protein. HSPA2 is required for spermatogenesis and functions as a chaperone for the spermatid DNA packaging proteins TP1 and TP2. HSPA2 is also expressed in cancer cells where it is normally localized to the cytoplasm but migrates to the nucleus during heat shock. Within aa 529‑616, human HSP70A2 shares 99% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat HSPA2.
