CD99, also known as PILR-L and MIC2, is a 125 amino acid (aa), 24‑30 kDa glycosylated transmembrane glycoprotein expressed as a homodimer on the surface of endothelial, T and B cells, monocytes and stem cells. CD99 has been implicated in processes like homotypic cell adhesion, diapedesis and oncosuppression. The extracellular domain of the mouse CD99 protein used as immunogen has 60% aa sequence identity to rat CD99 and 43% aa sequence identity to the human CD99.
