INTENDED USE AND DESCRIPTION: For use a quantitative control for the determination of mouse CXCL12/SDF-1 alpha concentrations in biological fluids. Controls are supplied lyophilized. The product is shipped with polar packs. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.

Storage

• Store lyophilized controls at 2-8 °C. Lyophilized controls are stable for up to 12 months from date of receipt.
• Reconstituted controls are stable for up to 6 months from date of preparation when stored at ≤ -70 °C. Storage at -20° C is not recommended.
• Individual frozen aliquots of low and high controls are designed as single-use entities. Thaw directly before use and discard any remaining volume.

Background: CXCL12/SDF-1 alpha

CXCL12 is a heparin-binding chemokine that regulates lymphopoiesis, enhances the survival of myeloid progenitor cells, regulates the patterning and cell number of neural progenitors, and promotes angiogenesis. CXCL12/SDF-1 alpha is one of several SDF-1 isoforms, all of which can undergo proteolytic processing of the first two N-terminal amino acids by DPPIV/CD26. SDF-1 isoforms signal through CXCR4 and CXCR7 and can also bind Syndecan-4. Their binding to CXCR4 may block the cellular entry of HIV.
