Scientific Data Images for ATF2 Antibody

Detection of Human/Mouse ATF2 antibody by Western Blot.

Detection of Human/Mouse ATF2 by Western Blot.

Western blot shows lysates of HeLa human cervical epithelial carcinoma cell line, MCF-7 human breast cancer cell line, and NIH-3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblast cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Human/Mouse ATF2 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF4455) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF109). A specific band was detected for ATF2 at approximately 80 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 3.

Background: ATF2

ATF2 is a member of the bzip family of transcription factors. ATF2 responds to cAMP activation in cells by either homo or hetero dimerizing with c-Jun and binding to cAMP response elements (TGACGTCA). ATF2 also contains histone acetylase activity that can be induced by ionizing radiation. ATF2 can be phosphorylated by a variety of kinases (JNK, p38, ATM), and this phosphorylation correlates with increased activity.
