Specificity

The antibody detects a 21 kDa protein in human Jurkat cells, rat A7r5 cells, and mouse brain. The antibody also detects recombinant full length rat Cdc42 fusion protein, but does not recognize a full length human RhoA GST fusion protein.

The cells were labeled with mouse monoclonal Anti-Cdc42 (NBP3-23213) in the absence (Left) or presence of full length Cdc42 recombinant protein (Right), then the antibody was detected using Goat anti-Mouse secondary antibody conjugated to DyLight(R) 594.

Background: CDC42

CDC42 is a small GTPase of the Rho subfamily, which regulates signaling pathways that control diverse cellular functions including cell morphology, migration, endocytosis and cell cycle progression. This protein is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc42, and is able to complement the yeast cdc42 1 mutant. The product of oncogene Dbl was reported to specifically catalyze the dissociation of GDP from this protein. This protein could regulate actin polymerization through its direct binding to Neural Wiskott Aldrich syndrome protein (NWASP), which subsequently activates Arp2/3 complex. Alternative splicing of this gene results in at least two transcript variants.
