Background: DNA Polymerase iota

DNA polymerase Iota (POLI), also known as Rad30B is a novel human polymerase, unlike any others known. It is an extremely low-fidelity enzyme that is highly error-prone when replicating undamaged and damaged DNA in vitro. To date there is, however, no human disease that can be attributed to overexpression or defects in DNA Pol I.

DNA Pol I antibodies are useful for DNA replication and repair studies and in research on mitosis and cell replication.

Alternate Names

DNA polymerase iota, EC 2.7.7.7, eta2, polymerase (DNA directed) iota, RAD30 homolog B, RAD30Bpolymerase (DNA-directed), iota, RAD3OB
