Background: EGFLAM

EGFLAM (EGF-like, fibronectin type-III and laminin G-like domain-containing protein or Pikachurin) is a 1017 amino acid signaling protein. It is detected in the synaptic cleft during the retinal photoreceptor ribbon synapse response and is necessary for proper bipolar dendritic tip apposition. It assists in the physiological functions of visual perception and it may also promote matrix assembly and cell adhesiveness. It may play a role in retinitis.
