Mouse CD133 (also known as Prominin 1) is a plasma membrane protein1 and its human counterpart has been considered as an alternative to CD34 for hematopoietic and neural stem cell selection. In addition, CD133+ progenitor cells from peripheral blood and bone marrow can be induced to differentiate into endothelial cells in vitro.
