FAQs for MGP Antibody - BSA Free

Showing  1 - 1 of 1 FAQ Showing All
  • Q: I am about to study the expression of MGP in valvular tissue. This protein is a vitamin K dependent BMP2 inhibitor and protect from calcification. The protein is gamma-carboxylated by vitamin K and the literature reports ELISA assays on dp-cMGP (carboxylated) and dp-ucMGP (uncarboxylated). Do you know which form (carb or uncarb) is recognized by this antibody? Also, are you aware of the availability of an antibody to detect the uncarboxylated form in IHC-P?

A: Our MGP antibody with catalogue number NBP1-86465 was generated against a recombinant protein corresponding to amino acids 24-97 of the human protein. Unfortunately we do not have any testing data which shows whether this antibody is specific to a carboxylated or decarboxylated form of the protein. I am sorry for any inconvenience.
