Background: DC-SIGN/CD209

DC-SIGN/CD209 (Dendritic Cell-specific ICAM-3 Grabbing Non-integrin) is a C-type lectin that is expressed as transmembrane and secreted forms. DC-SIGN binds mannose oligosaccharides on pathogens including HIV as well as self glycoproteins including ICAMs. DC-SIGN is expressed on dendritic cells and inflammatory macrophages and contributes to antigen presentation.
