Approx. 90 kDa band observed in lysates of 3T3-L1 adipocytes that is reduced by stra6 siRNA. The 90 kDa band is stained after retrovirally overexpressing mouse Stra6 and not after overexpressing human Stra6 in 3T3 preadipocytes (calculated MW of 73.8 kDa band according to NP_001025095.1). Please note a non-specific band of ~80 kDa.

Background: STRA6

The protein encoded by the STRA6 gene is a membrane protein involved in the metabolism of retinol. The encoded protein actsas a receptor for retinol/retinol binding protein complexes. This protein removes the retinol from the complex andtransports it across the cell membrane. Defects in this gene are a cause of syndromic microphthalmia type 9 (MCOPS9).Several transcript variants encoding a few different isoforms have been found for this gene. (provided by RefSeq)
