4-Amino-1,8-naphthalimide is a potent inhibitor of Poly(ADP-ribose) Polymerase (PARP). It reduces ischemia reperfusion injury in heart and skeletal muscle. It may also have neuroprotective effects in models of focal cerebral ischemia.
