KA1/GRIK4 Small Molecules and Peptides
The GRIK4 gene encodes a glutamate receptor KA-1 protein that is 956 amino acids long, 107 kDA and functions in the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS) by activation of ligand-gated ion channels and G protein-coupled membrane receptors. GRIK4 participate in the neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, glutamatergic synapse, activation of calcium-permeable kainate receptors, and transmission across chemical synapses. It is known to mainly interact with the GRIK2 gene. Researchers have investigated the role of GRIK4 in bipolar disorder, carcinoma, schizophrenia, parkinson's disease, neuronitis and medulloblastoma.
