TRPA1 Blockers
The ankyrin-like receptor family (TRPA1) is a member of the transient receptor potential (TRP) superfamily of ion channels. TRPA1 is classed as a thermoTRP: a TRP channel which is gated by temperature and functions as a temperature transducer. This channel is thought to be indirectly activated by cold; it is often expressed in the same neurons as TRPV1, another thermoTRP, which senses heat.
TRPA1 is sensitive to numerous chemical irritants including cinnamaldehyde, allicin and eugenol. The receptor has been linked to nociceptive transduction and neurogenic inflammation.
