Immunogen

Made to Human CD99

Specificity

Recognizes the human CD99 cell surface antigen, a 32kD glycoprotein expressed by all leucocytes. CD99 expression tends to be highest on immature cells. Functionally CD99 has been found to be involved in lymphocyte adhesion/aggregation and apoptosis.

Background: CD99

CD99 is a 32kDa glycoprotein, which is thought to be involved in cell adhesion processes. Expression of CD99 is a characteristic of cells from Ewing's sarcoma and primitive peripheral neuroectodermal tumors. However expression is also seen in certain normal cells such as pancreatic islet cells, cortical thymocytes, Sertoli cells and ovarian granulosa cells. Mature granulocytes express very little or no CD99.
