Why Use CometSlides for the CometAssay?
CometSlide High Throughput is a component of the CometAssay High Throughput Kit (R&D Systems®, Catalog # 4252-040-K) which is used for the rapid analysis of DNA fragmentation associated with DNA damage. CometSlide High Throughput is a 20-well slide that is specially treated to promote agarose adherence and easy application of cells directly to each well. This slide provides a convenient, simple, and reliable format for sample preparation, processing, analysis, and storage for the CometAssay.
The CometAssay, or single cell gel electrophoresis assay, permits the quantification of DNA damage in individual cells based on the migration of DNA structures in an electric field. Evaluation of the DNA “Comet” tail shape and migration pattern allows for assessment of DNA damage, expressed as tail length, percent DNA in the tail and tail moment.
