Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: CXCL16 Antibody (4.4) [NBP2-50187] - Staining of cos7 cells transfected with a plasmid containing a full-length CXCL16 open reading frame (a). 48 hours post transfection cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde permeabilised with 0.1% Triton X-100 and stained using Anti-CXCL16 [4.4] and followed by secondary goat anti-mouse FITC (1:100). Nucleic acid DAPI counterstain is shown in blue. A negative control mock is also shown (b).

Background: CXCL16

CXC chemokine ligand 16 (CXCL16) is a type I membrane protein that has a non-ELR CXC chemokine domain in its extracellular region. Fractalkine (CX3CL1) and CXCL16 constitute the only two transmembrane chemokines. Mouse and human CXCL16 share 70% amino acid sequence similarity within their chemokine domains and 49% overall amino acid sequence identity.
