Detects human S100A16 in direct ELISAs and Western blots. In direct ELISAs, this antibody shows approximately 20% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse S100A16 and less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) S100A13 and rhS100B.

S100A16 was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human brain (cortex) using 10 µg/mL Sheep Anti-Human S100A16 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5180) overnight at 4 °C. Tissue was stained with the Anti-Sheep HRP-DAB Cell & Tissue Staining Kit (brown; Catalog # CTS019) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Detection of Human S100A16 by Western Blot.
Western blot shows lysates of Nalm‑6 human Pre‑B acute lymphocytic leukemia cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Sheep Anti-Human S100A16 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5180) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Sheep IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF016). A specific band was detected for S100A16 at approximately 10 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8.

S100A16 (also S100F) is a 12 kDa member of the S100 family, EF-hand superfamily of Ca-binding proteins. By Northern blot, S100A16 is found in multiple tissue types; in brain, it is specifically found in astrocytes. Intracellularly, S100A16 is both nuclear and cytoplasmic and apparently exists as a homodimer, trimer and tetramer.
