Description

This product has been prepared from Human IgM myeloma protein by digestion with trypsin followed by column chromatography. Purity was assessed by SDS-PAGE and HPLC to be greater than 95%. Assay by immuno-electrophoresis at a concentration of 20 mg/ml

Store vial at 4C prior to opening. This product is stable 4C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. For extended storage mix with an equal volume of glycerol, aliquot contents and freeze at -20C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.

No test method can provide total assurance that the hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, human immunodeficiency virus, or any other infectious agents are absent. Thus, all blood products, including purified proteins derived from human blood sources, should be handled at Biosafety Level 2 as recommended by the CDC\NIH manual entitled Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories for potentially infectious human serum, blood specimens or proteins derived from same. Source material for the human blood product supplied to your facility has been tested for the detection of HIV antibody, Hepatitis B surface antigen, antibody to Hepatitis C, HIV 1 antigen(s), antibody to HTLV - I/II, and syphilis by FDA guidelines. All units were found to be non-reactive/negative for these tests. All human blood source material is collected in FDA licensed centers and is tested with FDA approved test kits.

Background: IgM Heavy Chain

Human IgM (myeloma) FC5U fragment consists of only the u (mu) chain of the Fc fragment. Immunoglobulin M is the largest antibody isotype and the first to be secrected against an initial exposure to antigen. IgM is predominantly produced in the spleen. IgM is formed from covalently linking 5 immunoglobulins together. Due to this large size, IgM is typically isolated to the serum.

FAQs for Human IgM Heavy Chain Isotype Control

Showing  1 - 1 of 1 FAQ Showing All
  • Q: What is the IgM Fc5u protein? Is this a whole IgM heavy chain, or a part of the heavy chain (if so which subdomains)?

A: This protein is the Fc =constant region of the heavy chain of IgM. It is not the entire IgM pentamer as there is no Fab or light chains.
