Western blot: Approx 26kDa band observed in lysates of cell lines U251 and RAW264.7 and in nuclear lysates of cell lines K562 and HeLa, all successfully blocked by incubation with the immunising peptide (calculated MW of 24.8kDa according to Human NP_001355859.1 and 31.8 according to Mouse NP_001297075.1). Recommended concentration: 0.03-1ug/ml. Primary incubation 1 hour at room temperature.

Background: Pax6

PAX6 is a transcription factor with important functions in the development of the eye, nose, central nervous system and pancreas. PAX6 is required for the differentiation of pancreatic islet alpha cells and competes with PAX4 in binding to a common element in the glucagon, insulin and somatostatin promoters. The Pax6-5A isoform appears to function as a molecular switch that specifies target genes.
