Background: SGK1

SGK1, an acronym for serum and glucocorticoid regulated kinase, appears to be important for intrauterine embryo implantation and pregnancy maintenance along with a variety of other pathways such as neuronal excitation, renal sodium ion secretion, apoptosis and T-cell signaling. SGK1 activity and stability appears to have an inverse correlation with ubiquitinylation pathways. SGK1 has an interaction with Notch through Fbw as the absence of SGK1 promotes Notch protein stability and transcriptional activity. SGK1 association with Tcell signaling is also indicated as Notch and Fbw7 mutations are found in a majority of T-ALL cases. SGK1 antibodies can be useful for further analysis of the relative importance of this kinase in numerous diverse cell processes.
