Product Specifications

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the extracellular loop 2 region conjugated to KLH. Accession # Q01959

Reactivity Notes

The antibody has been tested in Western blots of SDS-solubilized human striatal samples and in IHC applications with formaldehyde-fixed human and monkey brain sections.

Specificity

Specific for endogenous levels of the ~80 kDa SLC6A3/DAT1 protein. Diffuse band may be observed between ~70-85 kDa due to variable glycosylation.

Clonality

Polyclonal

Host

Rabbit

Isotype

IgG

Theoretical MW

80 kDa.
Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.

Background: SLC6A3/DAT1

Plasmalemmal neurotransmitter transporters sequester synaptic and peri-synaptic transmitter into presynaptic elements. The Dopamine Transporter (DAT) is responsible for the reaccumulation of dopamine after it has been released. Levels of DAT protein expression are altered by chronic drug administration.
