Detects mouse TGF‑ beta  RI/ALK-5 in direct ELISAs and Western blots. In direct ELISAs, approximately 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) TGF-beta RI is observed, and less than 2% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse TGF‑ beta  RII and rhTGF‑ beta  RIII is observed.

Background: TGF-beta RI/ALK-5

TGF beta Receptor I is encoded by this gene forms a heteromeric complex with type II TGF-beta receptors when bound to TGF-beta, transducing the TGF-beta signal from the cell surface to the cytoplasm. The encoded protein is a serine/threonine protein kinase. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Loeys-Dietz aortic aneurysm syndrome (LDAS).
