Detection of CD68/SR‑D1 in Human Liver. CD68/SR‑D1 was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human liver using Mouse Anti-Human CD68/SR‑D1 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB20401) at 0.1 µg/ml for 1 hour at room temperature followed by incubation with the Anti-Mouse IgG VisUCyte™ HRP Polymer Antibody (Catalog # VC001) or the HRP-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF007). Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heat-induced epitope retrieval using VisUCyte Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic (Catalog # VCTS021). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to the cell surface of Kupffer cells. View our protocol for IHC Staining with VisUCyte HRP Polymer Detection Reagents.

Background: CD68/SR-D1

CD68, also called Scavenger Receptor D1 (SR-D1), is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the LAMP family of molecules. CD68 is expressed on monocytes and macrophages and serves as a scavenger receptor for oxidized LDL.
