Detection of Integrin alpha 8 in H4 Human Cell Line by Flow Cytometry. H4 human neuroglioma cell line was stained with Mouse Anti-Human Integrin a8 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB6194, filled histogram) or isotype control antibody (Catalog # MAB0041, open histogram), followed by Phycoerythrin-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # F0102B).

Integrin alpha 8 in H4 Human Cell Line. Integrin a8 was detected in immersion fixed H4 human neuroglioma cell line using Mouse Anti-Human Integrin a8 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB6194) at 10 µg/mL for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained using the NorthernLights™ 557-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (red; Catalog # NL007) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Specific staining was localized to cell surfaces and cytoplasm. View our protocol for Fluorescent ICC Staining of Cells on Coverslips.

Background: Integrin alpha 8
Integrin alpha 8 is a 170-200 kDa member of the Integrin family of adhesion molecules. It forms an exclusive noncovalent heterodimer with Integrin beta 1. Integrin alpha 8/ beta 1 promotes both cell adhesion and survival, and is known to bind to fibronectin, LAP-TGF beta 1 and Nephronectin. It is principally expressed in smooth muscle cells. Human alpha 8 is a 1025 amino acid (aa) type I transmembrane glycoprotein. It contains a 974 aa extracellular domain (ECD) (aa 39-1012) and a 30 aa cytoplasmic domain. In the ECD, human alpha 8 shares 90% aa sequence identity with mouse alpha 8 protein.
