Specificity

Detects rat CXCL1/GRO alpha /KC/CINC-1 in direct ELISAs and Western blots. In direct ELISAs, less than 20% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse (rm) KC is observed and less than 10% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) GRO beta, rhGRO gamma, rmMIP-2, recombinant rat (rr) CINC-2 alpha and rrCINC-3 is observed.

Background: CXCL1/GRO alpha/KC/CINC-1

CXCL1/GRO alpha/KC/CINC-1 is an ELR+ angiogenic chemokine that interacts with CXCR2/IL-8 RB to attract and activate neutrophils. It is produced at sites of microbial infection by macrophages, monocytes, Kupffer cells, hepatocytes, endothelial and epithelial cells, cardiac and vascular smooth muscle cells, fibroblasts, melanocytes,  mast cells, and neurons. CXCL1 function is associated with the development and extent of atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, and tumor angiogenesis.

  • Q: Are mouse or rat CXCL8/IL-8 products offered?

    A: Mouse and rat do not have a gene which encodes CXCL8/IL-8. In mouse, the functional homologs to human CXCL8/IL-8 are CXCL1/KC and CXCL2/MIP-2. In rat, the functional homolog to CXCL8/human IL-8 is CXCL3/CINC-2.
