In direct ELISAs, 100% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse (rm) FABP4, 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) FABP3, 15% cross-reactivity with rhFABP3, and no cross-reactivity with rhFABP8 or rhFABP9 is observed.

Background: FABP4/A-FABP

Fatty acid binding protein 4 encodes the fatty acid binding protein found in adipocytes. Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. It is thought that FABPs roles include fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism.
