Background: Fibronectin

Integrin beta1 also known as integrin VLA-4 beta chain, fibronectin receptor beta chain, and CD29) is a 130 kD integrin beta chain containing VWFA-like domains. Five isoforms have been reported (beta1A-1D, 1C-2). This Type I membrane protein is a subunit of the heterodimeric receptor for laminin, fibronectin, collagen, fibrinogen, VCAM1, cytotactin, osteopontin, epiligrin, thrombospondin, and vitronectin. Signal transduction through the integrins affects embryogenesis, hemostasis, tissue repair, immune response, and metastatic spread of tumor cells. Integrin beta1 can be upregulated by LPS with soluble CD14 and TNF-alpha; downregulation of integrin beta1 by alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone and progesterone. Integrin beta1 is modified by phosphorylation and glycosylation. Integrin beta1 partners with integrin alpha subunits alphav, and alpha1 through alpha1.1. The Poly6004 antibody recognizes the N-terminal region of human integrin beta1 and has been shown to be useful for Western blotting. Partners with integrin alpha subunits alphav, alpha1 through alpha11.

FAQs for Fibronectin Antibody (DH1)

Showing  1 - 2 of 2 FAQs Showing All
  • Q: What is the difference between Bovine Fibronectin Protein, CF (Catalog # 1030-FN) and Human Fibronectin Protein, CF (Catalog # 1918-FN)?

A: Only the source species for the protein is different. Both carrier-free proteins have been validated to be bioactive with the same assay protocols listed and recommended concentrations fall within the same range, although customers should determine their optimal concentrations for their particular cell type and application.

  • Q: What is the dilution factor for IHC for starting? Because the range of dilution factor on the datasheet is so broad, I am confused which dilution factor is suitable for starting.

A: I can recommend the following dilution to start. Keep in mind that these will all vary greatly by sample type, so these are just suggestions. You may need to use more or less antibody. For catalog number NBP1-51723, the dilution range is 1:500-1:1000.
