Background: CIB1

Calcium and Integrin binding protein 1 (CIB1), also known as Calmyrin, is a ubiquitously expressed 22 kDa myristoylated and membrane-associated protein. It contains two EF hand domains (aa 103-138 and aa 148-183). Calmyrin interacts with a range of proteins including Integrin alpha 2b and GPIIb/IIIa, Presenilin-2, InsP3R, Stathmin-2, Myosin 1C, Sphingosine Kinase 1, Polo-like kinases, and Rac3. Human Calmyrin shares 94% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat Calmyrin.
