Plexin-A1 is an 1894 amino acid, 200 kDa type I transmembrane protein that is a member of the Plexin family of semaphorin signal transducers. Plexin-A1 binds the transmembrane Sema6D directly and binds the Class 3 secreted semaphorins indirectly via neuropilin-1 and 2. It mediates cytoskeletal remodeling that results in cell migration and axon repulsion. In the region used as an immunogen, mouse and human Plexin A1 share 97% amino acid identity.
