Detection of Human SOCS‑5 by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of Jurkat human acute T cell leukemia cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Mouse Anti-Human SOCS‑5 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB4796) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF007). A specific band was detected for SOCS‑5 at approximately 60 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 1.

Background: SOCS-5

SOCS-5 (Suppressor of cytokine signaling 5; also CIS-6) is a 55‑60 kDa member of the SOCS family of proteins. It is an SH2-domain containing cytoplasmic adaptor protein expressed by Th1 cells that is known to reduce the expression of the EGF receptor and block signaling by the IL-4 R alpha chain. Human SOCS-5 is 536 amino acids (aa) in length. It contains one SH2 domain (aa 381‑476) and a SOCS box (aa 471‑520) that mediates interaction with E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes. Full-length SOCS-5 is 94% aa identical to mouse SOCS-5.
