Background: NPY1R

NPY1R belongs to the Neuropeptide Receptor GPCR family. Neuropeptide Y exhibits a diverse range of important physiologic activities, including effects on psychomotor activity, food intake, regulation of central endocrine secretion, and potent vasoactive effects on the cardiovascular system. NPY1R is the receptor for subtype 1 of neuropeptide Y. It has been implicated in central physiologic and pharmacologic NPY-induced analgesia. NPY1R expression has been documented in brain, breast, colon, ganglion, heart, and vessel. ESTs have been isolated from brain, breast, heart, kidney, placenta, skeletal muscle, testis, and vessel libraries.
