Background: ERCC1

XPF (5' endonuclease) /ERCC1 (Excision Repair Cross Complementing 1) forms a heterodimer complex and catalyzes 5' incision to the DNA damage during nucleotide excision repair (NER). ERCC1/XPF is also required for repair of DNA interstrand crosslinks (ICLs) (1) and involved in repair of double strand breaks (2).
