INTENDED USE AND DESCRIPTION: For use a quantitative control for the determination of human/mouse/rat TGF-beta 1 concentrations in biological fluids. Controls are supplied lyophilized. Please refer to the lot specific certificate of analysis and Simple Plex Lyophilized Quality Control product insert for additional information.

Formulation, Preparation, and Storage

Shipping

The product is shipped with polar packs. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.

Storage

• Store lyophilized controls at 2-8 °C. Lyophilized controls are stable for up to 12 months from date of receipt.
• Reconstituted controls are stable for up to 6 months from date of preparation when stored at ≤ -70 °C. Storage at -20° C is not recommended.
• Individual frozen aliquots of low and high controls are designed as single-use entities. Thaw directly before use and discard any remaining volume.

Background: TGF-beta 1

TGF-beta 1 (Transforming Growth Factor beta 1) is a pleiotrophic cytokine that regulates immune function, proliferation, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. TGF-beta 1 associates with LAP to form a latent complex. It can be is activated from latency by plasmin, matrix metalloproteases, thrombospondin 1, and a subset of integrins. TGF-beta 1 signals through complexes of TGF-beta RII with TGF-beta RI/ALK-5 or ALK-1. TGF-beta signaling is modulated by the accessory receptors TGF-beta RIII/Betaglycan and Endoglin/CD105.

  • Q: Why are RD5P and SD21 diluents included on the TGF-beta 1 control CoA?

    A: RD5P (diluted to 1X) should be used for preparation of high and low controls per the Simple Plex Control Insert. SD21 should be used for standard curve preparation or for spiking samples. Storage stability of TGF-beta 1 in SD21 has not been evaluated, so it is recommended to always use freshly reconstituted TGF-beta 1 for preparations requiring SD21.
