Metalloproteases and Regulators
Metalloproteases are secreted (ADAMTSs, BMP-1, MMPs and Pappalysins), membrane-bound (ACEs, ADAMs, MT-MMPs and Neprilysins), or cytosolic (Insulysin and THOP1). The majority of these proteases are endopeptidases in comparison to the aminopeptidases. MMPs, ADAMs and ADAMTSs are regulated by TIMPs, which have different specificity toward different members of these families.
